Stretch Marks
Stretch marks are thin, linear scars that develop in males and females after rapid growth. It is a very common condition that can be very distressing, but is usually only of cosmetic concern.
Stretch marks commonly occur in boys and girls during puberty, where there is rapid growth and weight gain, and during pregnancy. Bodybuilders, especially if they take steroid drugs can develop stretch marks.
At Laserase we use a Lumenis ResurFx laser to treat stretch marks. This is a non-ablative fractional laser, that heats the dermis (second layer of the skin) to stimulate new collagen production. This will gradually, over the course of approximately three treatments, improve the texture of the skin, and the appearance of the stretch marks.

At Laserase Medical Aesthetics we also use radio frequency micro needling, which can be combined with the ResurFx laser, if there is significant skin laxity. Radio-frequency micro needling, will cause damage to, and heat the dermis at a deeper level that the ResurFx laser, again stimulating new collagen production, causing tightening of the skin.
